Eco Label Consultancy

What is Eco-Label?

Eco-Labels cover the entire footprint (environmental and social) information throughout the life-cycle of the product, including its usage performance and even post-use disposal or reuse, where, when and under what conditions any product or service was produced, the performance of the product, and even its post-use disposal or reuse. Eco-labels are used to show that products bearing this label are environmentally important products and can be considered as environmental identities of companies.

The International Organization for Standardization, known as ISO 14020 Environmental Labels and Declarations, was developed as a sub-title of ISO 14000 environmental management standards. It determines the general framework for environmental product and service labeling. Afterward, ISO 14021, ISO 14024, and ISO 14025 standards and 3 types of Eco-Label standards were introduced. ISO 14020 / 14021 / 14024 / 14025 is still used as the frame of reference for many Eco-Labels today.

A national environmental label system was established in our country with the Environmental Label Regulation published in the Official Gazette dated 19.10.2018 and numbered 30570. On 13.05.2019, the criteria for textile, ceramic coating, cleaning paper product groups were published on the website of our Ministry (https://cevreetiketi.csb.gov.tr/) and environmental label applications in the relevant sectors started to be accepted.

The product with the environmental label is kept under control during the life cycle processes, starting from the supply of the raw material, including production, consumption, use, and disposal after completing its lifecycle. Compared with other products or services in the same product or service group, it represents a product whose negative effects on the environment have been reduced. Also, It has been proven that it complies with the established criteria. Moreover, the system is based on volunteerism.
